Bridging the Divide: Conflict Resolution in Public Finance
Political polarization is the leading social rift of our time and won’t be an easy problem to solve, but there is a science-backed method that can help to bridge political divides. While many in the workplace may want to avoid politics in these challenging times, political conflict will find its way into the workplace. Since the budget is one of the most important political processes in local government, political polarization may present challenges to reaching good budget decisions. GFOA partnered with the Constructive Dialogue Institute (CDI) to offer members the opportunity to participate in a program called Perspectives that helps teams communicate more effectively across differences. In this session you will hear from members of Knox County, TN about their experience in the Perspectives program to improve conflict resolution in their organization. We will also hear from CDI about the science behind the Perspectives methodology.
